Burbage Police Weekly Update. Burglary, Dumped vehicles, Nitrous Oxide And Test Purchases. |
||
Hello Resident,
I have just returned from some annual leave so apologies for the delay in our weekly updates. In summary, whilst there have been reports of suspicious activity, crime such as residential burglary and vehicle thefts has been minimal, which is always good news.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Since our last update on the 7th of August, we have received 72 calls to Police. 15 of these calls were emergency and 18 were priority calls. These calls include transport related issues, concerns for safety, violence, anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
Report of a residential burglary at Hanover Court (Azalea Drive) between 00:00-0530 on the morning of the 21st of August. Suspect has entered the insecure property and taken handbags. It appears the items have been discarded in the local area, and we are still missing a white/silver iPhone 11 which is still missing and may have been dumped in the local area. Please ensure doors are locked as it appears there are opportunistic criminals checking doors in the area. If you have any CCTV in the area of Azalea Drive/Featherstone Drive, please take a look and get in touch. 25000492154.
As part of the safer streets campaign, Test purchases completed at local shops. Action taken where appropriate.
We have received several bits of communication regarding suspicious activity where persons have been seen in areas such as Sycamore Close, Wolvey Road and Begonia Drive in the early hours of the morning (dressed like they are up to no good). Please ensure that if you see people in balaclavas, snooping around properties or driving off at speed, you call 999 immediately. It is suspected these incidents may be targeting cars and caravans.
Two youths were seen throwing eggs at property on Church Street on the night of the 13/08/2025. We are currently completing investigations to identify those involved. It appears to be 2 male youths, mid-teens. If you have any information and can support us with dealing with this, please pop me an email darren.streton@leics.police.uk
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
A stolen motorbike from out of area has been recovered by officers in Burbage. Please ensure all motorbikes/mopeds and bicycles are kept locked, secured, and out of sight.
We have completed work on Sapcote Road in relation to multiple vehicles being parked on the bend, often un-taxed and generally causing nuisance to residents and road users. We are working with HBBC where a community protection notice is being issued.
We will be at the Co-op on Boyslade Road on Saturday 28th from around 15:00 – 17:00 if you need any crime prevention support or a chat.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
DWP Scam awareness sent in by a Burbage resident. “I have received another scam re DWP & winter fuel allowance saying I have not yet applied & giving me one last chance.” Please be mindful around any offers or notifications of financial support, especially as we head towards winter. With people struggling to pay bills and costs increasing, scammers will use relevant tactics to entice people into scams.
During the nicer weather, garden parties and general activity involving loud music increases. Whilst this is necessarily an issue, please been mindful around neighbours, different lifestyles and overall, please be considerate of those around you.
Ongoing sporadic reports of Nitrous oxide canisters being dumped, including areas such as near Sketchley Grange hotel and Featherston Drive. We are completing patrols in these areas to identify those involved, although this can obviously be difficult due to times and how sporadic it is. If you spot a registration plate of anyone involved, please pop me an email or call 101/999 immediately due to potentially dangerous driving or other crime they may be involved with.
Thank you and take care.
